The Clarksville Speedway has been family-owned since the 1960s and has two separate tracks on the 82-acre complex: a ⅛ mile, 2 lane drag strip which offers 2 shows every Friday night, and a newer ⅜ mile banked clay oval dirt track with 8 classes every Saturday night, averaging 90-125 cars per night.

Austin Peay State University, located in Clarksville, has several popular sports teams. The football team is the Governors, affectionately called the Govs. The university also has golf, women's soccer, and hockey.

Golfers will find the metro area rich with places to play; Clarksville and Hopkinsville both operate several municipal golf courses each, with many more in the surrounding area.

Hunting: Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources maintains seasons for squirrel, rabbit, bobwhite quail, ruffed grouse, bear, deer, elk, and turkey. Migratory non-waterfowl birds require an extra permit and include mourning dove, woodcock, snipe, Virginia rail, sora, common moorhen, and purple gallinule. Waterfowl are duck, coot, merganser, white-fronted goose and brant, sandhill crane and Canada goose.

Fishing: Fishing in Kentucky is freshwater lakes and streams. Common species are largemouth, smallmouth, spotted, white, and striped bass, white and black crappie, bluegill, redear, yellow perch, blue catfish, channel catfish, flathead catfish, sauger, and brown, brook, and rainbow trout.
